ABRAJ Energy Services, a leading provider of oil and gas services, has completed the first use of a unique oil extraction method in Oman. The project's planning, which took place in the Nimr Oil Field, began in 2022 in collaboration with the Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The drilling was initiated in 2023 before the successful completion in May 2024.

The horizontal oil well multistage project was a first of its kind, given the challenges it might bring. With sand and proppant flowback issues, Abraj introduced a sophisticated cracking method in an oil well, using a step-by-step process and offering a new technological solution in the region. Tested by PDO, the well observed noticeable improvement on the well production, which opens the door for more application of the frac methodology.

Eng. Saif Al Hamhami, CEO of Abraj, shared his thoughts on this achievement: "We are proud to introduce such a new technological solution that should help reinforce our market leadership and set the stage for further expansion into new markets."

He added, "This project marks another milestone that reflects our commitment to bringing innovation and expertise to the energy field as we work on strategic projects with our partners."

Offering pioneering technological concepts in energy services is poised to drive energy efficiency, growth, and industry leadership. Abraj's track record of successfully implementing complex and high-value operations showcases its continuous efforts to enhance the oil and gas sector's productivity and sustainability.

It is noteworthy that Abraj Frac completed three challenging high-pressure, high-temperature fracturing stages in the Ghazeer field, using 1.53 million pounds of high-strength proppant. This included the largest single-stage fracturing placement to date. Abraj has also successfully commissioned its second frac fleet for its client, bp Oman. In addition, the company has also published a number of technical SPE papers in partnership with PDO, highlighting its expertise in fracturing technology as a means to drive oil extraction and productivity.
